Thomas William Kachians passed away on November 30, 2016 following a brave and lengthy battle with diabetes and kidney disease. He was 67 years old.



Thomas was born on July 29, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the first child of William and Mary Kachians, Thomas and his family moved to San Diego County in the early 1950’s, where he resided throughout his life. Following his graduation from Grossmont High School in 1968, he proudly worked for the US Navy as a civil servant for nearly 37-years, until his retirement from SPAWAR in 2005.



His passion was helping others and volunteered for many organizations, including Special Olympics, Davis YMCA, El Cajon Police Department Citizen Police Academy.



Thomas is survived by his sister, Patricia Elwood; brother-in-law, Dean Elwood; nieces Hayley and Juliet.



Thomas will be laid to rest at El Camino Memorial Park. The family is suggesting donations to the American Kidney Fund, www.americankidneyfund.org or Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cardiff, California.
